When working with couples, I often hear: “We’ve tried talk therapy before, but it didn’t resolve our issues. What’s wrong with us? Why isn’t this working the way we hoped?”

One of the main reasons traditional talk therapy can feel ineffective is that it often overlooks nonverbal patterns of communication. These are the subtle, subconscious signals we send and receive through body language.

For example:

A relaxed, open posture naturally conveys safety and confidence.
In contrast, hunched shoulders or crossed arms might signal discomfort or defensiveness.
These nonverbal cues can create misunderstandings even before a word is spoken. The good news? You can learn to decode and shift these patterns to foster deeper connection and understanding.
